  • Completed and signed IMM 5710 form

2. Proof of Language Test

  • Score of any English proficiency test (IELTS General Training or PTE Core or CELPIP-General) Or, Score of any French (TEF Canada or TCF Canada)
  • If you graduated with a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctoral degree: CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French in all 4 language areas.
  • If you graduated from any other university program: CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French in all 4 language areas.
  • If you graduated from any other college, polytechnic or non-university program: CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French in all 4 language areas.

3. Proof of Completion of Study Program

  • Official letter from your Designated Learning Institution (DLI) confirming you’ve completed your program of study (Completion Letter).
  • Final transcript (Official transcript or copy of official transcript from your institution website).

4. Passport

  • A clear copy of all pages of your passport, including:
    • Bio-data page (with your name, photo, and expiration date)
    • All stamped/marked pages.

5. Study Permit

  • Copy of your most recent immigration document (like study permit, study permit extension, co op work permit)

6. Digital Photo

  • Passport-sized photo meeting IRCC specifications:
    • Size: 35mm x 45mm
    • Neutral facial expression, plain white background.

7. Immigration Medical Examination (if required)

  • Required if you intend to work in certain jobs (e.g., healthcare, childcare, primary/secondary education) or have lived in or traveled to specific countries for 6+ months in the year prior to your application.

8. Letter of Explanation (Optional)

  • A letter explaining any exceptional or unique circumstances (if applicable), such as completing a 1+1 year postgraduate program, taking an unofficial break, changing your Designated Learning Institution (DLI), studying part-time in your final semester, a delayed graduation, or any other situation that may benefit from clarification to support your application.

Additional Notes:

  • Application Timing: You must apply within 180 days of receiving confirmation of your program completion.
  • Processing Method: Applications can be submitted online through your IRCC account.
  • If your study permit has expired: You must apply for the PGWP within 90 days, pay both the work permit fees, and the $350 restoration fee. Pay the restoration fee online and upload the receipt with your PGWP application—no separate restoration application needed.

Passport Validity: Your PGWP duration cannot exceed your passport validity, so ensure your passport is valid for the desired length of the permit.
