While calculating CRS score for PR points you might get confused on this section.
1. None – If your education level is below high school (e.g., if you haven’t completed Grade 12 or +2 in Nepal).
2. Secondary Diploma – If you have completed high school (e.g., +2 in Nepal or Grade 12 in another country).and you did not complete any post-secondary education (college, university, diploma, or certificate). Highly impossible if you came Canada to study
3. One-year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute– If you came Canada after high school and completed a post-secondary program that lasted exactly one year like 1 year PSW, 1 year Accounting technician.
Do NOT select this if you already have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
4. Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute – If you came to Canada after high school and completed a two-year diploma or two back-to-back one-year programs (1+1 years), select this. But this is for only who came after +2.
Do NOT select this if you already have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
5. Bachelor’s degree (three or more year program at a university, college, trade or technical school) – If you just have Bachelor degree or Advance diploma of 3 years or more. This usually applies to those who completed their bachelor degree in Canada or to those who havenot completed any degree after their bachelor of 1 years or more.
Do NOT select this if you completed a one-year or two-year postgraduate program after your bachelor’s degree in Canada. See the next category.
6. Two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years – If you already have a bachelor’s degree and then completed one or more postgraduate programs in Canada. This applies to most international students who completed a bachelor’s degree outside Canada and then a PG (one or two year or 1+1) in Canada. This category gives you more CRS points than just a bachelor’s degree. To claim points under this category, you must get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) (e.g., WES, IQAS, ICAS) for your bachelor’s degree if it was completed outside Canada.
7. Master’s degree, or professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession – If your highest qualification is masters degree.
8. Doctoral level university degree (PhD) – If you have completed your PhD.
*If you have completed a CTEVT diploma, the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) you receive will likely classify it as equivalent to a high school diploma (+2 level). You cannot select “Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees” because a CTEVT diploma does not count as a post-secondary credential. Consider CTEVT diploma as high school qualification and select the appropriate category. No additional points for this.
